When did you know you would be a designer?
WHEN I WAS ABOUT 8 YEARS OLD WATCHING AN EPISODE OF OPRAH, VALENTINO WAS ON THERE SHOWING A COLLECTION OF GOWNS... I FELL IN LOVE WITH FASHION THEN

What was the first garment you constructed? A hit or disaster?
IT WAS A TURQUOISE AND GREEN HALTER TOP AND TURQUOISE PENCIL LEG PANTS. IT SURPRISED THE HELL OUT OF ME

What is your favorite design technique or (embroidery, pattern making, screen printing, etc)?
I LOVE DIFFICULT THINGS BECAUSE I KNOW ALLOT OF PEOPLE WILL TRY TO TAKE THE EASY WAY OUT.. SO ANY THING THAT'S EXTREMELY HARD TO DO ... I LOVE;-)

What was your worst internship/design job and why?
I NEVER LOOK AT A JOB BEING THE WORST OR BAD I JUST TAKE IT AS A LEARNING EXPERIENCE

Glue and Glitter loves applique, how can we be down?

Applique, from the french word appliquer means to "put on".
There is one layer of fabric placed over another layer of fabric and then sewn into place.
This technique may be used for logos, images, for creating texture and more. Excellent for totes, designer fabrics and gives printed t-shirts a high-end look.

Whats New?

Laser technology has taken this method to new heights. With less time-consuming effort, designers can now skip the cutting process and go right to production. No top stitch needed (maybe a zigzag) or leave edges frayed, which is cute with denim. Some of the newest applique trends are felt, which kind of produces a retro look.

When did you first know you would be a designer?

This just sort of happened organically. I've always loved making thing. When I was a kid, you couldn't tear me away from Lego's, and of course I was a huge fan of glitter glue paintings! When I finally got my hands on a sewing machine, I knew I'd found an obsession!

The first garment/product you constructed was what? Hit or Disaster?
The first sewing project I ever did was a really simple reversible tote bag, and it went well!

Have you ever had a bad intern or job experience?
I can't really think of any bad experiences off hand.

What’s your favorite design technique?
I am in love with applique. Since my materials are all vintage and salvaged, applique helps me make each piece my own.

King Tut "Laced Up" in Atlanta

"Tutankhamun: The Golden King and the Great Pharaohs," presented by the Michael C. Carlos Museum of Emory University running from November 15, 2008 to May 22, 2009, at the Atlanta Civic Center. Laced Up Sneaker boutique has partnered with J SHOES, to produce the official "TUT" shoe to be on display for millions to see.

Laced Up Boutique is the only store in the nation to exclusively carry the "TUT" J SHOES series. The Sorrento for women is best described as gladiator style goes glam. It features a soft leather upper in a casual Roman inspired sandal boot. To compliment the Sorrento, Laced Up will also carry the men's Starr in matching metallic gold.
